I’ve purchased this set two times! I think I am the only person who loves rice in this household and this unit fits my needs perfectly!

Very little rice is ruined in the end (if any at all) and it’s efficient and fast if you just have to prepare 1 or two servings.

It does make a difference what type of rice you make in relation to the amount of water you use. As for me I make only long grain rice and I almost always use the more costly “basmati” rice that is much healthier for you.

You can prepare the sticky short grain rice but it creates a mess on the outer surface of the machine (makes it sticky) from the condensation that leaves the cooker while cooking. Other than that, it works quite good.

Now my secret information on how to cook A SINGLE SERVING: I use the rice scoop that comes with it. 1 scoop of dry rice (which is about 3/4 of a cup) rinse exhaustively, then add 1-1/4 scoops of water (around 1 cup). If your microwave has a power level, set it to 7 and cook it for 12 to thirteen min. You may need to experiment with length of cooking times and power settings for your brand of microwave.

Hint: If your rice ends up too squishy, add more time (or reduce the water content), if it ends up being stuck together in 1 big lump .. decrease the cooking time, or add a little additional water.

Remove it from the microwave, open the cover (Be careful! It gets quite hot!), and add some butter (so much for the healthy part!) while fluffing the rice up and shut the lid for about 2 mins.

That’s it, roughly 15 minutes and you have cooked rice!
